Drone Program Readiness Checklist

Programs rarely fail on flying skill. They fail because nobody wrote the policy, only one person was qualified, the data had no retention rule, or the aircraft was funded once and never again. Every one of those is visible on paper before it is visible in an after-action review. Score all 46 lines across the eight domains that decide whether a program produces defensible results, marking each one not started, in progress, or in place.

  • Mission and governance
  • Regulatory authority and airspace
  • People, training, and currency
  • Aircraft, payload, and supply chain
  • Flight operations and risk management
  • Data, privacy, and records
  • Insurance, contracts, and liability
  • Sustainment and growth

It closes with a defensible first ninety days, ten questions worth putting to any vendor before you buy, and a plain-language glossary for the non-aviation people who have to sign off. Lines that apply only to government or only to commercial operators are tagged as such.

More open items than closed ones?

That is the normal result, and it is a good place to start a conversation. Tell us where the gaps landed and we will tell you which ones actually matter first.
